Transamerica Institute Releases The Many Faces of Caregivers: A Close-Up Look at Caregiving and Its Impacts

Transamerica Institute releases a national survey of 3,000+ non-professional caregivers, the largest of its kind. The survey examines caregivers' duties and highlights the impact caregiving has on personal health and well-being, employment, finances and retirement preparations. The report offers an in-depth analysis and demographic portraits of caregivers by employment status, gender, generation, household income, ethnicity, and whether they are the primary caregiver and became a caregiver voluntarily or not. The report also offers detailed findings about care recipients, including their health status and financial situation.

Successful Retirement: Healthy Aging and Financial Security exposes retirement un-readiness among workers globally. Globally, the top three retirement aspirations among survey respondents are traveling (62 percent), spending time with friends and family (57 percent), and pursuing new hobbies (48 percent). The Current State of Retirement: Compendium of Findings About American Retirees report reveals retirees' most frequently cited financial priority is just getting by and/or covering basic living expenses. Only 45 percent of retirees say that they have either fully financially recovered or were not impacted, 35 percent say they have somewhat recovered, eight percent have not yet begun to recover, and 12 percent feel they may never recover from it, according to the 16th Annual Transamerica Retirement Survey.
